From sunrise to sunset, this was a full day wandering through the ancient wats of Siem Reap. Towering stone faces. Jungle wrapped corridors. Roots swallowing entire temple walls. You can feel how old it all is. Not just in the architecture, but in the tension carved into the history. These temples are more than photo backdrops. They carry the story of the Khmer Empire and its long struggle with the Cham kingdoms. Driving between temples, you see children helping their parents sell bracelets, drinks, souvenirs. Some smiling. Some tired. Some carrying responsibilities way beyond their years. It pulls at something deep. It makes you reflect on privilege, opportunity, and the randomness of where we are born. This trip also became personal. Years ago, as a teenager, I helped raise funds to build a school in a rural Cambodian village. Back then it felt like a distant act of service. Now I am on this soil, searching for clues, asking questions, trying to trace where that village is and whether that school still stands.
