The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced an important change to the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) for 2025. As of July 29, 2025, the minimum settlement funds required for immigrants applying to settle in Canada’s Atlantic provinces—New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island—have increased. This update ensures that newcomers are financially prepared to settle successfully in these regions. What’s New? The required settlement funds have increased by up to $140 depending on the size of the family. Here’s a breakdown of the updated minimum funds needed: Single applicant: $3,815 (up from $3,672 in 2024) Family of 2: $4,750 (up from $4,572) Family of 3: $5,840 (up from $5,620) Family of 4: $7,090 (up from $6,824) Family of 5: $8,042 (up from $7,740) Family of 6: $9,070 (up from $8,729) Family of 7: $10,098 (up from $9,718) For every additional family member over seven, the required funds increase by $1,028. Proof of Funds: You’ll need to show official bank statements as proof of your funds, including account balances, account numbers, and the bank’s contact information. It’s important to note that equity in real estate or borrowed funds cannot be used as proof. About the AIP: The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is an employer-driven program for skilled workers and recent graduates who wish to live permanently in one of Canada’s Atlantic provinces. To apply, candidates need a job offer from a designated employer, and the job offer must be endorsed by the provincial government.
