9-1-1 Season 9 Episode 1: Oliver Stark teases buck & Eddie’s Romance

Fans of Buck and Eddie will undoubtedly have to wait a bit longer for the chance of a romance between the two in 9-1-1 season 9. The two characters have been great friends for several years. However, some ABC procedural drama TV show viewers couldn't help but notice the chemistry between Buck and Eddie, whom they nicknamed "Buddie." Unfortunately, the closest Buck and Eddie have come to becoming more than buddies was when Maddie revealed her brother's emotions for his best buddy (after Tommy did) in season 8. But there hasn't been much activity on the Buddie front since then. Buck and Eddie's relationship does not appear to be changing anytime soon, particularly in the first half of 9-1-1 season 9. Buck and Eddie have few scenes in the 9-1-1 season 9 premiere, and the show has no signs of a prospective romance between the two in future episodes. Sure, Buck is envious of Eddie's newfound partnership with Hen. However, the envy is platonic, as Hen is married and Eddie is not her type. So, while Buck is envious of Eddie and Hen's relationship, it's more about friendship and Buck's difficulty with change. Bobby's death has thrown him off balance, intensifying his feelings and reactions. Furthermore, if season 9 was going to be about Buck and Eddie taking their friendship to the next level, the premiere should have laid the groundwork for that. Oliver Stark teased what Buck might expect in future episodes and discussed his character's relationship with Eddie in an interview with TV Insider following the season 9 premiere of 9-1-1. The journalist specifically asked the 9-1-1 cast member if Tommy interrogating Buck about his love for Eddie would be addressed again in season 9. According to his statements (and the events of "Eat the Rich"), Buck and Eddie will not be getting together in the first half of the season. Maybe there won't be any Buddie romances in 9-1-1 season 9. Unfortunately, there has been nothing to suggest otherwise. Buck isn't really looking for love in Season 9. He's still hurting from Bobby's death, as seen in the first episode, and there's not much place for dating in the firefighter's schedule. Ultimately, viewers should not expect a Buck and Eddie romance in 9-1-1 anytime soon.
