damn, void gave her hands Loadout: fully upgraded Hunter Crest and Needle, tools: Longclaw, Barbed Bracelet, Weighted Belt. For practice/normal runs I recommend Injector Band as the windows for healing are really tight. Hardest boss in the game IMHO... Here's what I learnt, maybe it'll help somebody: 1. She can read you really well, so the most important tip is to minimize your movement and be patient. Be lazy, react to her attacks instead of chasing her, she'll come to you. Be deliberate and precise with your movement. Maintain safe spacing and don't get greedy, 1 strike is usually fine, 2 are risky. Hit and run. 2. First phase. Aggression unadvised, take it slow here, learn her moveset, you need to know it well or she'll punish you heavily in the next two phases. a. Teleport I thought this mechanic was unfair, but the trick seems to be to follow the first tip and especially TO NOT MOVE if you see her disappear. She can emerge right behind you, and chooses where to teleport based on your movement, so it's very easy to dash or even walk right into her and get contact damage if you panic or move too much. b. Dash attack Tell: sword in the middle. 2 dash attacks guaranteed unless you get hit, followed by a 3rd dash, jump, or tentacle arm, depending on your positioning and her mood. Reaction: Jump and dash in the opposite direction. Alternatively, if you have the space, dash away from her. Don't pogo, unless you are perfect every time, the trail will punish you. Focus on dodging, and punish her follow-up. b. Parry After most attacks, she'll parry if you get close to her. Either time your strikes to avoid the parry, or learn how to punish the parry. If you hit her parry, jump slightly above her and move behind her. You might need to dash. This way you can consistently avoid both her ground counter and air counter. The ground counter is an excellent punish window. c. Ground combo Tell: sword down, in front of her. Reaction: move away from her, dash if you have to. Or jump over. Pogo is hard to time right, she can punish you even if you damage her, so I just don't bother. d. Jump and shaw Tell: sword down, behind her. Reaction: move away, and dash away or under her. Keep in mind she dashes slightly after landing. Hard to react to, but proper spacing helps a lot. Very punishable if she lands right next to you. e. Tentacle arms Tell: arm behind her turning black, usually as a follow-up after the other moves. Can do this either on the ground, or diagonally from air. Reaction: if on the ground, jump. Ideally, dash behind her to punish (and/or pogo). If from air, move/dash. You can punish her if you get under her. 3. Second phase. Same moveset, spells added to the mix. You have less space and windows of opportunity, so don't get greedy. Try to focus on what she's doing while you're dodging the spells. a. Projectiles Always three, heavily telegraphed, slow. Risky to punish, I tend to ignore her and focus on dodging the projectiles. Note that simply walking/jumping is enough. Dashing will get you punished if she teleports during this attack. b. Tentacles from ground Stay between them. The hard part is to dodge Lace's follow-up while they are there and resist the urge to dash. If she's not on the screen, she's probably hiding behind one of the tentacles and will attack you immediately after. If she's not hiding, DO NOT CHASE HER, you won't have the space/time to dodge her follow-up if you both end up between the same tentacles. c. Mines Don't jump. If you're close, this is one of the best punish windows. Area right under her is safe, she won't land on you. If you're far away, aim to be between any two mines, or run out of range. As with tentacles, the hard part is dealing with the follow-up, same tips apply, except you have even less space on the ground, but you can dash in the air if there are no tentacles. d. Single Tentacle She sometimes spawns a single tentacle before/during/after her normal attacks, so take note of that before you decide to punish/dodge. 4. Third phase. Basically phase 2 with more spam, BUT she doesn't use parry anymore, so you can be more aggressive if you find a punish window. a. Saws Always two, from opposite sides. They move in the direction of the black drops and get smaller and smaller, so sprint in the same direction to the wall, which you can use. Double jump, and dash/grapple over if needed. You can heal in the air after jumping over the first one. b. Circles Stay away. Good healing window. Move away from Lace after she slams the ground, as she surrounds herself with small tentacles on the ground. Or just jump over them. I advise against trying to punish her unless she lands right next to you.
