Link to Asian Correspondent article - http://asiancorrespondent.com/135714/... Thailand has confirmed 6 Months Multiple Entry Visas for Tourists To Thailand, costing a reasonable 5,000 Baht or US$ 139 at current exchange rates. Of course this is an extremely positive development but at the same time, there is a catch - each entry can only be of 60 days, implying that tourists will STILL need to leave the country and then reenter every 60 days. Such a ruling really does not make sense. Take for instance the example of India that I mentioned - India issues 6 month tourist visas which can be used to stay for the entire 6 months period, without any need to leave the country for up to 6 months; there is no such reentry nonsense. Thailand should follow similar diktats, especially given the large number of expats who stay in the country for extended periods of time; as per this new ruling, while they will be saved he hassle of getting fresh visas every time, they will still have to leave and reenter every 60 days. Also, if we look at things from the point of view of the cost, there isn't much of a difference between this 6 months visa and a regular two months visa taken thrice (to add up 6 months in all). Ideally, there should be a cost incentive to go for this visa as well.
