Endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation (ECP) can be performed at the time of cataract surgery; as a stand-alone procedure, or through the pars plana at the time of vitreoretinal surgery. Microendoscopy offers the vitreo-retinal surgeon a panoramic view of anatomy and pathology that may not be visible through the operating microscope. When anterior or posterior conditions preclude a posterior view, the endoscope provides a unique perspective and visual advantage that allows the surgeon to save valuable surgical time. The microendoscope combines wide field illumination, video imaging and titratable treatment option with the built-in laser and is displayed on a magnified “heads up” video monitor.
