The Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) leaders in government and the Council of Elders (CoEs) of Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park--embarked on a knowledge sharing , networking and learning (KNL) journey to the Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park (BTLNP) in Dumaguete City and Apo Island Protected Landscape and Seascape (AIPLS) in the town of Dauin, Negros on Sept. 22-25, 2019. Kitanglad delegates met fellow PAMB Members and community leaders and organizations involved in park management and had fruitful exchanges of experiences and advices. The goals were to familiarize mayors with the new policy on E-NIPAS Law, to foster local and LGU stakeholder partnership in resource management and protection; to build more confidence to tribal elders and enhance camaraderie with government officials, and to discuss financial sustainability in the PA. Our gratitude to Hon. Jose Abiera Mayor of Sibulan for the warm reception during their Monday Convocation; to DENR-PENRO Charlie Fabre for vehicle support; to Deputy Park Superintendent Ceferino Beja, Jr. for hosting lunch at BTLNP Casablanca Resto; Rico Mier of Balinsasayao Farmers Assn for the tour in the Danao Lake; to PASu Efren Rumabaoa of AIPLS for introducing us to snorkeling with marine turtles; and Atty. Allan Barcena head of CSR of Energy Devt Corp (EDC) for lecture on its geothermal operations and BINHI greening program, and site tour. Our gratitude to Vice Gov.
