From Google Earth Engine to Web Map: Lake Urmia Water Surface Change

In this video, I demonstrate a complete workflow for monitoring long-term changes in water surface area using satellite imagery, with Lake Urmia in Iran as a case study. Lake Urmia is one of the largest salt lakes in the Middle East and has been experiencing significant shrinkage over recent decades due to a combination of climatic factors and human impact. The workflow starts in Google Earth Engine, where Sentinel-2 satellite data is processed to generate cloud-free RGB composites, land cover classification maps, and water surface area calculations over multiple years. All results are exported as GeoTIFF files and visualized in QGIS. The layers are styled, prepared for web mapping, and published as an interactive web map using the qgis2web plugin and GitHub Pages. This video is intended for those interested in remote sensing, environmental monitoring, and geospatial data visualization.
