Economy and Politics: Restructuring, Political Reforms and Stability in Nigeria - Attahiru Jega

This edition of the “Economic and Politics” show features excerpts from the 7th Annual Goddy Jidenma annual lecture, Professor Attahiru Jega, former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. According to Prof. Jega, Nigeria is long overdue for political reforms that will transform the socio-economic landscape and strengthen institutions that will advance good governance for the nation's stability. He decried that infrastructure projects, contracts, and procurement are not transparent in Africa’s most populous nation compared to other African countries. The Political Scientist believed it was time for Nigeria to embrace restructuring that will devolve powers from the Federal, State to Local Governments to improve governance and ensure equitable distribution of resources.
