https://neurologyofcannabis.com Hello, friends. Multiple sclerosis is one of those conditions that has set the stage for cannabis use worldwide. It turns out that many patients with multiple sclerosis discovered on their own that cannabis smoke helped reduce muscle stiffness or spasticity. The studies that were done with cannabis therapy in the United Kingdom by GW Pharmaceuticals showed that a combination of CBD, cannabidiol, and THC, Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol reduced spasticity in their double blind controlled studies. This led to the approval of Sativex, also called, Nabiximols for the treatment of spasticity in patients with multiple sclerosis. This particular product is half CBD and half THC, and it’s used as an intraoral spray, where one pump or one spray of this liquid in the mouth contains 2.7 milligrams of THC and 2.5 milligrams of CBD. Patients with multiple sclerosis using this therapy have found that between eight and 12 sprays per day, that’s approximately 30 milligrams each can lead to reduction in spasticity, improvement in quality of life, and increased functionality in patients with multiple sclerosis. This is a tremendous advance for medical science, and has led to the approval of side effects, also called, Nabiximols in 27 countries around the world. Not in the US, unfortunately, because cannabis is still Schedule One. However, we will get cannabis approved in the United States, and Sativex and other therapies will be available, not just for patients with MS. But with other conditions.
