Besonders in den Sommermonaten ist die Altstadt ein beliebtes Ziel von Radtouristen, die sowohl über den Werntal-Radweg als auch über den Maintal-Radweg nach Karlstadt gelangen. Durch Karlstadt verläuft auch der Fränkische Marienweg. Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten bieten drei Hotels, einige Pensionen und ein Campingplatz am Mainufer. Die Karlsburg ist die Ruine einer 1525 zerstörten Spornburg auf einem breiten Felssporn am linken Ufer des Mains auf dem Gemarkungsgebiet von Mühlbach gegenüber der Stadt Karlstadt.
