I got a fever, and the only prescription is.. MORE TOUCHDOWNS! This interesting little football game has the old rotational knob joysticks that SNK fell in love with in the late 80s/early 90s. These serve to rotate a little arrow above a certain player, which indicates which direction he will pass or kick towards. You can make a complete ass of yourself by throwing backwards or to the sidelines to nobody in particular! If you're playing this emulated make sure to set up the controls just right, or screwing up becomes painfully easy. At any rate, the goal of this game is to just have the lead over the computer or other player after the rather short timer is up. If the game is tied or you trail at the end, the game is over. If you win, you still must add a credit to play again, but you will be given 10 extra seconds on your next game's clock. Further games won earn you an additional 10 seconds on top of that clock for an additional credit, giving you 20 extra seconds, 30 extra seconds, etc. It's kind of cool to see this game encourage laterals, with the rotational joystick being applied for kick returns, pass plays, etc.; but again, the potential for really screwing up a play is there, too! And your fingers may get really tired from bashing the RUN button during a return or right after a pass play/lateral-- you really have to mash it like crazy to hope for any separation. On defense you simply touch a player to start a tackle but especially if you're playing against the computer that's not likely to be enough to take them down. The more games you play (after winning the previous ones) the faster/harder to tackle/better at interceptions/etc. the computer gets. So be sure to get proficient at touchdowns! Diverting game of football (with some annoying "cheering" sounds) but I greatly prefer TECMO BOWL-- not just the NES game but the arcade original too. Suggested by YouTube user Charlie Cat. Stay tuned for some prototype game reviews coming up soon! Happy Mother's Day this weekend!
