Hey family, it’s Maria and Berry. Welcome back to Vision to Venue, our weekday behind the scenes series showing what it takes to bring our vision for the 6th Annual Autism in Black Conference to the venue. The conference is April 17 through 19, 2026, and you can join us in West Palm Beach, Florida or virtually from anywhere. Today is Operations Tuesday, and we’re breaking down something we do on purpose every single year: we theme the days of the conference, not just the overall weekend. That structure is how we build a clear experience, avoid chaotic programming, and help you walk away with real outcomes. ⸻ Register for the 6th Annual Autism in Black Conference Get your ticket here: https://funnel.autisminblack.org/conf... Dates: April 17, 18, and 19, 2026 In person in West Palm Beach, Florida or virtual from anywhere Both in person and virtual tickets include lifetime access to conference recordings ⸻ Episode summary In Episode 18, we explain how the conference is designed in layers. Yes, the overall conference theme is Rooted in Healing, but we also break the live program into themed days so the weekend flows with intention. We walk through the three core day themes and why they come in this order: Day 1: Mindfulness This is where we address the internal mindset barriers that can keep people stuck, whether you are a parent, caregiver, autistic adult, or professional. It’s about possibility, reframing, and getting grounded so you can actually receive what’s coming next. Day 2: Fear based and external barriers Now we talk about the real outside forces that create fear and frustration. Systems. Access. Providers. School barriers. Bias. Logistics. The stuff that is not “in your head” but still impacts your life every day. Day 3: Action and movement This is where we bring it all together and send you back into your real life with a plan. Monday matters. We want you leaving ready to apply what you learned, advocate, and move forward with community behind you. We also explain how prerecorded sessions fit into the experience. We release them before the conference as a lead in, so you can start learning early and pause, take notes, and replay the technical sessions like IEP strategy, accommodations, and transitions. ⸻ What you’ll hear in Episode 18 • The weekday Vision to Venue rhythm and the YouTube subscriber goal • Why we theme the days, not just the weekend • Day 1 Mindfulness and mindset blockers • Day 2 external barriers and fear based realities • Day 3 action, movement, and Monday readiness • Why prerecorded sessions are released before the conference • Why technical sessions work better prerecorded (pause, replay, notes) • A quick behind the scenes moment on speaker contracts and why contracts protect everyone • Tomorrow’s teaser: Speaker highlights and possibly session highlights ⸻ Timestamps 00:00 Welcome to Autism in Black Life and mission reminder 00:40 Tuesday episode intro and conference dates 01:49 Subscribe and hit the notification bell 03:17 Operations Tuesday and why we theme the days 04:25 Day 1 theme Mindfulness 08:21 Day 2 theme external barriers and fear based realities 11:49 Day 3 theme action and movement 14:21 Prerecorded sessions and why they drop before the conference 20:14 Speaker contracts and why we do them 24:45 Contracts are normal business and protect everyone 26:17 Final reminder to register and attend in person or virtual ⸻ Key takeaways • The conference is structured on purpose. Themed days create flow, reduce chaos, and improve outcomes. • Mindset first, then external barriers, then action. That order matters. • Prerecorded sessions are released before the conference so you can learn early and revisit technical content at your pace. • We protect our speakers and our organization with real contracts, written by an attorney. ⸻ Calls to action 1) Register for the Autism in Black Conference https://funnel.autisminblack.org/conf...
