A Brief History: St. Francis Xavier, a Jesuit missionary, came to Goa in 1542 to spread Christianity and serve humanity. After his death in 1552, his body was miraculously preserved and brought to Goa, where it now rests in a silver casket. Every 10 years, his relics are displayed for public veneration, attracting thousands of pilgrims and tourists worldwide.
