Ariah, Pernelle, and I had the idea for a big Expedition 33 acapella collab all the way back in May right after our Clair Obscur cover, and it took me til mid-September to finish the arrangement between getting sick, other projects, motivation… ...at least it’s finally done! Huge, huge shout out to these 8 vocal power houses for contributing their time and their voices for this cover. We sound so, so amazing together, and I really hope to make more music together in the future. There were a couple of songs we considered, but in the end I floated the idea of doing Paintress because I wanted to try a really big choral arrangement (like an Expedition, yeah?). It would have been cool to do one of the 3 11-minute pieces, but I needed something a little bit more bite-sized 😂 . Paintress is still quite long, but I made a few tweaks and shrunk it from ~9 minutes to just under 6 so it was more manageable. Special shout out to Ariah for taking on my least favorite task of timing and tuning all 35 tracks, you are a life saver 🥺 And to also everyone who gave me feedback during mixing. I tried my best to make everyone shine! My favorite tidbits that I learned in the group chat: -Ariah and I like pineapple on pizza 🤝 (to the dismay of several others) -Multiple members of the party have mentioned how they look constantly constipated.
