Thomas County Central is currently ranked #18 in the state of Georgia according to MaxPreps and the Jackets have a veteran offensive line along with two major D-1 prospects on the defensive side of the ball. Thomas County Central is one of Cairo's three rivals (Thomasville and Bainbridge are the other two) and Thomas County Central is Cairo's biggest rival. Thomas County Central leads the all-time rivalry 25-22-1. Both teams battle for the coveted "Barnett's Creek Bucket". Barnett's Creek literally separates Thomas and Grady Counties. There is a lot of love and hate between these two teams. Under new head coach Justin Rodgers, the Thomas County Central Yellowjackets have been resurrected back into an elite program. The Yellowjackets are one of the most elite football teams in class 6A and one of the top 25 teams in the state.
