Well, it ain't exploitation strictly speaking, but these low-budget productions were made, distributed, and played in a similiar fashion to all the other genres (except that the karate and porn films never played church halls). Rare clips like these can be found on the Media Funhouse blog, located at: mediafunhouse.blogspot.com The films that the company called Mark IV made drew on a variety of sources, copying plot twists and tropes from the afterschool specials, old "Lassie" and "Flicka" pics, The Twilight Zone, the James Bond series, and countless other mainstream items. I'm constantly mesmerized by the Xtian approximation of mass culture which is actually pretty spot-on (see Xtian contemporary music-vids), although it lacks, again, the sex appeal and must of course throw in a nice little message about Xt comin' to redeem us all by the last reel. Included in these clips is a doctor drama that seems insanely similar to Albert Brooks' brilliant doctor-show spoof for the first season of SNL (included in his coming attractions for NBC's fall season). We move on to a suicide "message drama," an abysmal Xtian comedy, and a wide-open-spaces kiddie pic. Ah, the '70s...
