I must say that it took me quite a few years before I had this satisfactory number of clips so as to be able to produce a video dedicated to the Ferrari 412 T1, the car developed and used by the Italian team in the 1994 Formula 1 season. In the name of the new car, the 4 stood for the number of valves per cylinder while the 12 was for the number of cylinders and the T referred to the transverse gearbox with its six normal gears and one reverse. At the start of the season, the car was equipped with the Tipo 041 engine of the F93A (1993 season car): a 3.5-litre, 65° V12 engine capable of approximately 750 hp at 15,300 rpm. The T1 featured heavily sculptured sidepods, with ogival-shaped air intakes, and a sleek rounded nosecone, aiding aerodynamics. Those air intakes, however, turned out to be a source of problems, as they were undersized for the cooling needs of the V12, especially on slow circuits. In order to solve this issue, the 412 T1 was constantly modified, race after race, with redesigned sidepods and wings, so much so that from the French Grand Prix of that year the car took the name of 412 T1B. This evolution is recognisable by the introduction of new, more traditional side pods and above all by the bargeboards (a first for Ferrari) in front of their inlets. Starting with the tests for the San Marino Grand Prix, a new Tipo 043 engine was unveiled. It was designed from scratch and characterized by a V angle increased to 75°, 3 kgs lighter than the Tipo 041, and even more powerful (approximately it was able to produce 800 hp at 15,250 rpm). It was officially used in races starting from the 1994 German Grand Prix. Gerhard Berger and Jean Alesi proved the car's competitiveness throughout the season, with a brace of podium finishes and some pole positions. Ferrari returned to Grand Prix success after a long break, with Berger winning the 1994 German Grand Prix.
