Three Cornell experts share insights on moth biology, the evolution of lepidoptera, and the incredible biodiversity depicted in the film. Dr. Meena Haribal discusses the important role of citizen scientists in documenting nature, especially given the extraordinary number of Lepidoptera species, as well as her own ecological research in the region depicted in the film. Dr. Jason Dombroskie offers a crash course in moth biology, focusing especially on the moth populations of upstate New York, and shared the tools scientists use to study moths. Finally, Dr. Bob Reed discusses his research on the evolution of butterfly wing color patterns and how specific genes control different physical expressions.
