Perception management means striving to influence how everyone in your organization perceives you, from executives to direct reports. Advocate for your skills and talents by keeping them up to date on your successes and the challenges you’ve overcome. Consider how your peers, subordinates, customers, venders, and others you interact with think of you too. All of these people have the power to make a difference in your career, even if it’s just to give you a piece of advice or share their opinion with someone in power. Never undervalue people’s opinions just because they don’t have direct authority over your next career move.
