Hi everyone, I can not thank you all enough for your support and donations to our challenge. We are all truly humbled and so very thankful. We are all working tirelessly to get these videos out to you as our way of thanks and to give you the opportunity to come with us in the trip! In part one you’ll see the team set out on the first leg of the adventure, putting in at Neptune’s Staircase a series of locks which lead up on to the start of the Caledonian Canal. We were greeted by one of you guys, a supporter of the challenge Paul, who kindly gave up his time to wave us off! As we paddled down the canal for the first time I got a sense of accomplishment that it had finally come together but there was also a air of nerves as to what lay ahead. We had a very enjoyable paddle that morning and got to know the guys who we hadn’t met before and who at the end of the trip because real good friends with and all with a common hobby, focus and goal how could we not become good friends. We got to our first portage around lunchtime which led from the canal to the opening mouth of Loch Locky the first of the three Lochs we would need to navigate through. At a length of 16k we would be on her for the rest of the afternoon, spend the night on her and then push to finish her late morning the following day. We broke for lunch and was greeted by our second supporter of the trip Mike. He came down from just the other side of Loch Locky to greet us and bring us a very very welcome pack of beer for the whole team! It was so kind of you Mike 👍. After photos with his favourite YouTubers Simon, Richard and Simon We said our goodbyes and headed for Locky! It was apparent straight away that the weather was taking a turn for the worst. The black clouds loomed ahead and we knew we were in for a soaking. The swell came in and also mist so we took a break on the shoreline till it past. As we waited a beautiful double rainbow appeared, someone must have made a wish because from that point on everything went in our favour. We got to our first camp in great time and pitched up for the night. The shoreline came to life with the histle and bustle all the Bushcrafters, milling about getting their camps sorted for the evening. Day two saw us reach our second portage of the trip which was a awkward climb up back on to the Caledonian Canal. We spent a lovely afternoon fishing and chatting and generally having a good laugh before reaching Lock Oich. Smallest of the three Lochs but equally as stunning she boasts a island and her very own shipwreck! After pitching up in a gorgeous wooded glade right on the shoreline we broke out the Catapults for the evening’s entertainment with a change of winning a can of beer to whoever hit the target the most! Join us in part two next week where we run the white water rapids of river Oich and take my first ever wild swim then get your first peek at Loch Ness! Thank you, Ant & Charlie.
