What if Mangaluru becomes a city filled with fruit trees? Environmental enthusiast Madhava Ullal has proposed an inspiring plan to plant nearly 5 lakh fruit-bearing trees across Mangaluru city. Many people travelling through Hampankatta and Balamatha areas may have already noticed small roadside trees bearing fruits like jamun, star fruit, Indian gooseberry, and other native varieties. For the past 30 years, Madhava Ullal has been planting and nurturing trees across several parts of Mangaluru including Hampankatta, Milagres, State Bank area, and Balamatha. Some of the trees planted by him have already started bearing fruits, attracting people and birds alike. His vision is to transform Mangaluru into a “Fruit City”, similar to how Bengaluru is known as the Garden City. If supported by the district administration, civic bodies, organizations, and volunteers, this initiative could help plant lakhs of fruit trees over the next few years. The project can enhance greenery, reduce pollution, provide chemical-free fruits for people, and attract birds to the city. However, challenges such as maintenance, water supply for young plants, and occasional vandalism remain. Madhava Ullal believes that with the support of volunteers, CSR funds, and local authorities, the dream of making Mangaluru a fruit-rich green city can become a reality. #mangaluru #fruittrees #GreenMangaluru #MadhavaUllal #treeplantation #environment #dakshinakannada #savenature #udayavani #uv #uvvideo #ಮಂಗಳೂರು #ಗಿಡನೆಡುವಿಕೆ "Get Your Daily Dose of News, Entertainment, and Infotainment - All in One Place!"
