Arnarstapi is 2 hours drive north from beautiful Rayjkavik, on the Snæfellsnes peninsula. It’s hard to pin point any one thing in particular, but the entire vibe is heaven like, especially during summer when the grass is greener and birds flock from all over Iceland. You will notice sea cliffs during the summer breeding season full of the birds and you will hear a myriad of birds squawking, mostly kittiwakes, gulls, fulmars and the cranky Arctic tern. And when you come closer to the pillars, which are white with guano, the smell becomes almost overwhelming. The beautiful Arnarstapi is my favourite places in the world. The extraordinary columnar basalt and cliff formations here are breathtaking in beauty and one of Iceland's most beautiful natural harbours is at Arnarstapi.
