English/Français Imposing and majestic in its green setting, Château Guillaume inspires calm and serenity, it seems to have always watched over its village and the valley. The castle was founded by Guillaume X, count of Poitou and duke of Aquitaine, father of Aliénor who would have been born in these places. The 11th century Romanesque keep was enlarged in the 13th century. The castle, dismantled under Richelieu, was remodeled in the 19th century by a disciple of Viollet-le-Duc. Note the harmonious and preserved buildings of the hamlet which adjoins the castle and in particular the houses, with the external staircases, which surround the small Romanesque church. Inhabited and fully furnished castle. A development program for the entire hamlet is underway. A 1.7 km discovery trail allows you to continue exploring the site. Le château a été fondé par Guillaume X, comte du Poitou et duc d’Aquitaine, père d’Aliénor qui serait née en ces lieux. Le donjon roman du XIe siècle a été agrandi au XIIIe siècle. Le château, démantelé sous Richelieu, a été remanié au XIXe par un disciple de Viollet-le-Duc. A noter le bâti harmonieux et préservé du hameau qui jouxte le château et en particulier les maisons, aux escaliers extérieurs, qui entourent la petite église romane. Un sentier de découverte de 1,7 km permet de poursuivre la découverte du lieu.
