Iceland Day 2: Exploring Downtown Reykjavik: Rainbow Street, Sun Voyager & Visiting Sky Lagoon SPA

On Day two of our visit to Iceland, we explored Downtown Rejkjavik and found Skólavörðustígur Street, aka Rainbow Street. This street is a permanent piece of art, designed to remind visitors and residents about respect, inclusivity and love and is a located between Bergstaðastræti and Laugavegur, and from one view has Hallgrimskirkja Church in the background. Next we visited "The Sun Voyager" or the ‘Sólfarið’ which is an artistic steel sculpture on Reykjavík‘s waterfront. It resembles a Viking Long Ship, though it was meant to be perceived as more of a "dream boat" and an ode to the sun, by the artist. This landmark represents the promise of undiscovered territory as well as dreams of hope, freedom and progress. We then head to what was the highlight of our day: Sky Lagoon! Here we were treated to the spa’s signature Skjól ritual. This thermal lagoon is located on the outskirts of Iceland’s capital and like all the country’s hot springs and geothermal pools, the welcoming waters are heated by geothermal energy.
