At this point the most part 3 could do is make me not dislike the canto but I think these first 2 parts have been so weak that no matter how good it is the canto cannot be in the running for top fav. I brought up canto 7 a lot, and that's because I have a lot of the same gripes. Since Ryoshu has memory issues she feels very emotionally detached from most of the goings on. The bits that we get are good (especially the ones revolving around her daughter) but they're so sparse that I'm having a hard time connecting with them. The fanservice feels much more heavy handed (maybe since idk distortion detective, but I feel like i shouldn't have to have read it idk) which imo really detracts from the theoretical emotional weight. The most emotional part of this whole ordeal has been Marton sacrificing himself for Hoenheim, which doesn't even involve Ryoshu. She hasn't even seen the ring or middle nursefather yet when this is supposed to be about her? and her relationship with them and her daughter? I think this canto wouuld've greatly benefited from an intervallo that focused on the distortion detectives + the break-in of LCE so the canto could just drop us into the meat of things. I'm just really disappointed so far. Part 3 has way too much to carry for it to possibly be able to tie this all together, but I guess we'll just have to see.
