Athearn 40' Wood Reefers - Review

This is a special edition 3 pack for athearns kit projects. I picked these up in Houston Texas for about 15 dollars. I finally out them all together and placed them on my layout. I have no complaints except for that the couplers downright suck. They let go, and dont hold together. I think that is because the train came with couplers that were plastic, but over 10 years old. They no longer hold the spriny-ness that is needed to keep the coupler knuckle closed. I will probably go out and get some kadees or bachman with actual springs. Im tired of the couplers letting go. I will put the cars back on the main line and run them once I have decent couplers installed in them. For now, the wood refrigerator cars will sit on my yard. The cars look good, and if put together properly track fairly nicely on the rails. I do not think the cars weigh enough, they wobble a lot. If the weight was improved these cars would be great. Overall, for 15 dollars these 3 cars are a great addition to my layout Thanks for watching
