JANUARY 21 - Wake Up, Ants Are Winning 3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 6:6–11; Matthew 18 (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/...) // 3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon (https://amzn.to/4pmHfWh) // ________________________________________ “Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.” — Proverbs 6:6–8 “So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.” — Matthew 18:14 ________________________________________ It’s easy to hit snooze on your alarm five times and promise yourself you’ll do that assignment later. But before you know it, “later” turns into last minute. We’ve all had those moments where we felt lazy or unmotivated. But have you ever watched ants at work? They never stop moving, never wait for someone to tell them what to do. In Proverbs 6, God literally tells us to learn from ants—yes, ants!—because they know how to prepare and work hard without anyone pushing them. On the flip side, Matthew 18 reminds us that every single person matters to God. He doesn’t want anyone to be lost. That includes the “lazy” kid, the one falling behind, the one who’s drifting. God doesn’t write us off—He wants to restore us. He tells a story about a shepherd leaving 99 sheep to go find just one that wandered off. That’s how much He cares. So what do these two ideas have in common? It’s this: when you take responsibility like the ant, and when you know how valuable you are to God, you’ll stop wasting your life—and start living with purpose. ________________________________________ THINK ABOUT IT 1. Ant Lessons: What habits can you learn from the ant? Are you waiting to be pushed, or do you take initiative in your school, home, or spiritual life? 2. One Matters: Jesus talks about a shepherd leaving 99 sheep for one. What does that tell you about your value—even on your “lazy” or “lost” days? 3. Laziness Costs: Proverbs 6:11 says poverty can come like a robber. What might you be missing out on—spiritually, emotionally, academically—because of procrastination? ________________________________________ BOTTOM LINE God values you, but He also calls you to rise up, be responsible, and live like your life matters—because it does. ________________________________________ PRAYER Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me, even when I fall behind or feel unmotivated. Help me learn from the ant and grow into someone who takes responsibility, lives with purpose, and honors You in every area of my life. Keep reminding me how much I matter to You, and give me the strength to live that out every day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
