Spice Cabinet Organization Ideas | Kitchen Organization | Cary Prince Organizing

Add spice to your life by organizing your spices! Spice cabinet organization will help make your kitchen more efficient since you can see the spices you have, you will save money by not over-buying and you will delight in the joy of cooking. Just think of the delicious meals you are about to prepare! In this video I walk you through the 5 simple steps on how to organize spices: Step 1: Take everything out! Step 2: Sort & categorize -- be sure to check for expiration dates and categorize by type of spice: peppers, salts, seasonings/rubs, savory spices and sweet/baking spices Step 3: Clean & measure your cabinet, pantry shelf or drawer Step 4: Choose your spice organizing solution Step 5: Put it all back in & organize! Much like organizing other storage spaces in your kitchen (How to Organize Kitchen Drawers, How to Organizing Kitchen Cabinets or How to Organize A Pantry), you’ll follow the same steps but take spice organizing a few steps further: first, sort your spices to discard expired spices and second, categorize by type of spice: peppers, salts, seasonings/rubs, savory spices and sweet/baking spices. This exercise will help you with the last step when you determine how the spices will go back into your pantry, cabinet or drawer. We then explore organizing solutions -- from tiered shelves, turntables and drawer organizers. I share the perfect organizing solution for a small spice cabinet like mine. The result? A spice cabinet that follows three principles: frequency of use (spices that you use most often are put in front or made most accessible), zoning (place categories on specific shelves/areas so you know where that category of spice is kept) and maximizing vertical space.
