Cervicogenic headache is one of the most common forms of headaches and often misdiagnosed. This headache is caused by the top 3 joints in your cervical spine (neck) interacting with a brain structure, the trigeminal cervical nucleus. From this overlap, the joint, tissues or muscles that are irritated can refer pain up to your head, causing a headache. There are many triggers for headaches. With the top 5 being, neck pain, tiredness, restless sleep temperature mean and odors. There are 3 main kinds of headaches: Cervicogenic Headache- Top or back of head, gradual onset, no nausea, light/sound sensitivity and flexing the neck often increases symptoms Migraine Headache- Front or anterior of head, sudden onset, pulsating feeling, with or with our aura and often has nausea, vomiting, light/sounds sensitivity Tension Headache- bilateral (both sides), mild to moderate intensity, tightening feeling, usually waxes or wanes, improved with physical activity and may have light or sound sensitivity, but not both Fortunately there are a lot of treatments that you can do by yourself that don't involve taking any medication.
