Repair of the Ceton 6 ETH. Red Light of Death (RLOD). Normally when the Ceton 6 ETH starts up, a red light will flash for a few seconds, followed by a blinking blue light, then a steady blue light when the device is fully on and connected. This Ceton was working normally for months and one day quit. The Ceton diagnostics program showed the Ceton was not working. The Ceton was cycling. The red light would come on, then shut off and go back to red. This would cycle continuously. It might go blue briefly, but always cycles off and then back to red. The problem turned out to be the external power supply that was supplied by Ceton. A bad capacitor was found and replaced. This is a low quality power supply and probably destined to fail. Power supply specs: 12 volts DC, 1.5 amps. The tip is positive and 5.5 mm OD and 2.1 mm ID. Generic power supplies are available on Ebay, Amazon, and AilExpress for only a few dollars.
