The Gothic tribes are the Germanic tribes that have influenced a lot of pre-mediaeval western history, yet there were fewer written records of them, making their origin as well as their history and culture a bit of a mystery compared to many cultures in the past. The most famous gothic tribes are the Visigoths, who were responsible for the sack of Rome, and the Ostrogoths, who established their kingdom in Italy. These goths are those for whom we can track their nationalities and countries. We’ll also take a brief look at not only their migration and history but also their social structure, religions, and artworks. We’ll answer the questions of how the goths looked like, what they were known for, and a bit of detail on their gothic language.
