A rare print of "Durban Diary", released in 1956 I think by Satour. This charts the travels of a young lady around the sites of Durban (South Africa) and localities in the mid 1950s. I have had to re-upload this, and edit two short sections of the film to avoid potential infringement of You tube policy and a music copyright (replaced with music by Bensounds.com 19:00 to 21:30). I hope we are all grown up enough to understand that the film is an historical record of over 60 years ago, it would have been filmed from a certain cultural perspective, and this is not endorsed simply by showing it. What is interesting about this film is it was used as one of the early BBC Trade Test Films (TTF) shown in the London area between 1956 and 1967. This particular one was shown in 1957 and 1958. It was also shown as a shorter version than the full one here...for reasons which will be obvious to you once you have watched about half of this. These TTFs were broadcast in the afternoon or after closedown to help engineers calibrate sets I think. I can't find a copy of this film on the net, so it may be quite a long time since it has been seen.
