Never Loved Christmas - the 2023 Visit Otley Christmas film

You’ve never loved Christmas… until you’ve had an Otley Christmas: that’s the message from the historic Yorkshire market town for the 2023 festive season as it releases its seventh annual Christmas film today. Never Loved Christmas is the 2023 Visit Otley Christmas Film and features an original song by Otley-based folk and country singer Serious Sam Barrett alongside 44 of the town’s businesses and community organisations. They all spread a message of love and fun for the festive season before Otley Bellman Terry Ford declares: “You’ll love Christmas in Otley… because we love Christmas in Otley.” With a cast of 97 people and locations ranging from high-street shops and offices to community meeting spaces and specialist care groups, the film – co-produced by Otley’s tourism marketing agency Endure Communications and Menston-based specialist video production company MCharMedia – is Otley’s most expansive Christmas video ever. Never Loved Christmas is a country ballad that tells the story of a man who found a love of Christmas after finding the love of his life. It was originally composed and released by Serious Sam in 2014. The new, shortened version featuring on the Visit Otley Christmas Film was updated for 2023 and recorded at Otley’s Wolfpack Studios and produced by Richard Sabey. The film Never Loved Christmas –is available to view on the Visit Otley Facebook page and on Endure Communications' YouTube channel from today. The original version of the song can be purchased for just £1 on Sam’s Bandcamp channel. Sam will be performing the song live on Monday night (November 27th) at the Otley Christmas Lights Switch On which marks the start of the festive season in Yorkshire’s Christmas Town. Other events over the Christmas period include the Otley Victorian Fayre on Sunday December 3, the Otley Christmas Tree Festival from Wednesday December 6th to Saturday December 9th and the Christmas Farmers’ Market on Sunday December 17th.
