Hi, welcome to Deaf Talks News. A 24-year-old woman named Thanya Nathan is from Kannur district, Kerala. She has a visual disability from birth. She completed her law degree using the Braille system and screen-reader technology. She was practicing as a lawyer. Last year, the Supreme Court of India ordered an important judgment. The court clearly said that persons with disabilities must be allowed to join the judicial service. They cannot be excluded only because of disability. Thanya Nathan applied for the Kerala Judicial Service Examination under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category. She secured first rank in the disability merit list. She is set to become Kerala’s first visually-impaired civil judge. This achievement is not only a personal success. Thanya Nathan’s said disability is not a limitation to serve in the judiciary or in leadership roles. Happy and congratulations to her. But she is not the first blind person to become a judge in India. Brahmananda Sharma served as the first blind person to become a judge. How about Deaf People ? Any Deaf Person judge ? Why are we not becoming ? Why ? comment below. Subscribe to Deaf talks news. #DeafTalksNews,#Kerala'sBlindJudge!,#ThanyaNathan,#SupremeCourtofIndia
