World University of Bangladesh founded in 2003, is a leading university for quality and utilitarian education. It is established under the Private Universities Act, approved and recognized by the Ministry of Education, People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh. The University is governed by a Board of Trustees which is constituted according to the Private Universities Act 2010.Although the formal approval to start operation of World University of Bangladesh was received on February 26, 2003, the ground work for the university began in early part of 2000 by the Heroic Freedom Fighter Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury and in fact, he is the founder of the University. The university is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), International Association of Universities (IAU), Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), Association of the Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Association of Private Universities in Bangladesh, Quality Assurance & Improvement Council and Bangladesh Pharmacy Council. The university has created the scope for the students to have membership of IEEE, ASCE, AME, ICE, AACBB & ACM. Besides, WUB has credit transfer arrangements and academic collaborations with many universities of UK, USA, Australia and the Caribbean. From the inception to date, WUB has produced more than 21,000 graduates who have been working in different fields here and abroad. English as its medium of instruction has complemented the effort. This has been possible, because World University of Bangladesh is destined to provide utilitarian education for economic emancipation without undermining the national ideals and aspirations and is authorized to offer courses and award degrees, diplomas, certificates. The university has its picturesque campus at Uttara in Sector 17H. The campus presents an excellent environment for student activities with a lake nearby. Even the surroundings encourage learners to interact with the nature. In essence, it is a beautiful campus with the greenery all around. It may be proudly announced that the World University of Bangladesh is the first university in the country to provide degree programs for the Diploma Engineers and the pioneer in introducing Mechatronics Engineering (MTE) in the region and Master of Business Education program, apart from master in Cyber Security.
