Bass Cover of Queen's 'The Show Must Go On' by Kedar (Viku) Nayak Three years after we launch, he decides to make a bass cover video. Here is Kedar (Viku) Nayak covering the bass section of Queen's 'The Show Must Go On'. (It's not perfect, he says, since he's returning to active bass playing after a while.) Originally played by John Deacon, the bass line of the song is wonderfully written, full of unrepeated phrases and different rhythmic patterns, making it a melody in itself while doing its primary job of providing the lower frequencies to the song and filling out the bottom end, in synch with the drums. However, the highlight of the song is Queen's late frontman & iconic singer Freddie Mercury's voice and singing. Especially since at the time of recording the song in 1990, Freddie Mercury was terminally ill, extremely weak, aware of his impending death, and yet went on to give one of his best ever vocal performances captured for posterity in the recording studio. The song itself is beautiful, melodic, big in sound, with interesting key shifts, emotional guitar work by another legend Brian May, metaphorical lyrics reflecting Freddie Mercury's life & spirit in many ways, as said by people close to him. A must listen.
