'We Drove Here' compilation

A compilation of South Island motoring-relating footage mostly filmed by George Thorn in the 1950s and 60s. Films digitised by Maurice Hayward and edited by Hocken Collection staff for use in the 'We Drove Here Exhibition', held in the Hocken Gallery between 7 November 2015 and 13 February 2016. Includes the Dunedin to Brighton Veteran Car Rally (February 1956), a suburban street scene, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at Dunedin (January 1954), Dunedin Road Race (June 1953), flooding at Balclutha (1957?), picnickers and cars at a rowing event, scenes outside a crib at Waikouaiti, road overlooking Karitane and Waikouaiti, Dunstan Centennial (1962), scenes at Alexandra, a Morris Minor on a country road, vehicles in the Lewis Pass area, holidaymakers in a mountain region, a car being pushed in snow, roadwork scenes, a fishing trip with a Land Rover, and a farewell scene at Waikouaiti.
