#industrialrobots #industrialrobots #industrialrobot #automation #cannabispackaging #prerolltubes #packagingmachine #packagingequipment #packagingsolutions This is a robotic work cell for packaging pre-rolls into tins. It takes clear plastic inserts from a stack and places them on a conveyor. These clear plastic inserts are the packaging that goes inside of the tins. Then the robot picks the pre-rolls from the blue trays and places them in the plastic inserts on the pallet conveyor. We have an additional module that picks and places the tins, moves the clear plastic inserts with all of the pre-rolls into the tin, and slides the lid over the tin. I will cover this module in a separate video. Each of the blue trays contains many pre-rolls. You can have multiple trays that are the same product or a different product in each tray. Although the simulation shows that the pre-rolls are nicely arranged, they are randomly oriented in a real production setting. For the best results, the pre-rolls however should be arranged in a single layer. We use a mixture of 2D and 3D vision to inform the material handling. The 2D vision is used to identify the pre-rolls and the 3D vision is used to determine the optimal pick position. Because the pick position is precise, we can ensure that we always pick the pre-roll by the filter to ensure no damage to coatings that may be on the product. A SCARA robot is used because it has very fast pick and place speeds. The cell is capable of over 3000 picks per hour or over 600 tins per hour at 5 pre-rolls per tin. We are also able to use the 3D scanner to inform the operator if the infeed trays are empty. Or if the infeed trays are not present. More importantly, we can use artificial intelligence and computer vision to verify how many pre-rolls are in each plastic insert so that the product count in each and every tin is visually inspected. This data can be recorded and output into reporting that will meet your local regulatory requirements. We also have the ability to customize and train a model to complete other quality control tasks to your specifications in the quality of the pre-rolls.
