This ship restoration is surely a labor of love. In this season 4 segment of Weekends with Yankee (episode 407), Richard is in Mystic, Connecticut, to hop aboard the Mayflower II, a rendition of the original 17th-century ship gifted to the United States by the British after WWII. Now, roughly 60 years later, the ship is being restored in Mystic Seaport by Whitt Perry. Whit gives us a tour of the Mayflower, explaining how the ship would’ve been sailed in 1620 and pointing out restored pieces from the 1957 version.
