We Hiked 12 Miles for NO Hot Spring?! | West Fork Trail, Colorado

🚐✨ Welcome back to Travel Reimagined! We’re Jacqueline & Chase, a full-time RV family exploring the USA! As RV newbies, we’re learning everything on the go—from traveling and working on the road to tackling RV maintenance (and all the unexpected surprises along the way!). We hiked 12 miles on the West Fork Trail in Colorado in search of the famous Rainbow Hot Springs — and let’s just say… it was NOT easy to find. 😅 This trail is located near Pagosa Springs, Colorado, within the Weminuche Wilderness, and follows the West Fork of the San Juan River through stunning forest scenery, fire-scarred landscapes, river crossings, and mountain views. The hike is about 6 miles in and 6 miles out, with roughly 1,200+ feet of elevation gain, and can take anywhere from 5–8 hours depending on pace and trail conditions. There is no potable water at the trailhead, and the final section to the hot springs requires leaving the main trail and navigating down toward the river. We dealt with blisters, snakes, rain, confusing campsite markers, and serious exhaustion — but finally found a hot spring that made it all worth it.
