The Singapore Sling is a variation on a classic Gin Sling and was first created around 1915 at the Long Bar in the Raffles Hotel, Singapore. And again, there are many different recipes and opinions on how to make the perfect Singapore Sling but this is one of my favourites. Take note that the recipe calls for cherry brandy - I'd recommend using Cherry Heering (a deep red cherry liqueur, sweet and a more natural cherry taste) or kirsch (a clear coloured cherry brandy, slightly bitter due to the pitts that are also used). Marashino liqueur will impart less cherry flavour, a few herbal notes and some slight bitterness. I mention in the video that the maraschino liqueur was sweeter, when in fact the Cherry Heering is...my bad! Can Cherry Heering, Kirsch and Luxardo Maraschino be substituted for one another?
