Highlights from Match 3, and just about all of Match 4 from the PBA's 1979 Ford Open. #3 qualifier Butch Soper has won his first match against Dale Glenn to advance to the semi-final against #2 qualifier, 22-year-old Steve Cook, who is going for his first PBA title. Only a few shots from this semi-final match are shown here. The winner advances to meet the tournament leader Earl Anthony in the title match, which is shown pretty much in its entirety here. Sorry, but the video quality of this one is pretty grainy, and portions were edited out years ago. I must have had terrible over-the-air reception where I lived at the time; plus, this is about a 2nd or 3rd generation dub of the original VHS recording. By the way, if you haven't seen Match 2 from this telecast, search for it here. I posted it a while back. One of the most interesting matches I can recall ever seeing on the Pro Bowlers Tour. Originally telecast January 20, 1979 from Mel's Southshore Bowl in Alameda, CA. Chris Schenkel on play-by-play. Nelson Burton, Jr. on color.
