This monsoon, the Himalayan Shepherd team carried out extensive fieldwork in the foothills of the Himalayas, documenting the rich seasonal diversity of flora and fauna across an altitudinal range of 3700m to 800m. The rains bring life to the landscape, and our explorations revealed a vibrant spectrum — from blooming wildflowers and medicinal plants to the active presence of butterflies, birds, and other wildlife that thrive in this season. Such observations are vital to understanding how species adapt to the unique rhythms of the Himalayan monsoon. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to build ecological knowledge, encourage youth engagement in biodiversity monitoring, and strengthen community awareness of the fragile yet resilient ecosystems we live alongside. Together, we aim to celebrate, document, and conserve the natural wealth of our mountains — ensuring that every season, every altitude, and every species is valued.
