BOSS Bismuth #5 vs. #4 Ballistics Gel & Pattern Test

I did a ballistics gel and pattern test of BOSS Bismuth #5 shot against the #4 shot to see how they compared. I also tested some HEVI-Shot HEVI Steel #4 to see how the Bismuth #5 compared. These are premium waterfowl hunting shotgun shells. The bismuth #5 shot had significantly less penetration but more pattern density than the bismuth #4. However, the steel shot #4 did not penetrate deeper in the gel than the bismuth #5. So for duck hunting the #5 bismuth is perfect but for goose hunting the bismuth #4 may be preferred. I used 10% FBI Ballistics Gel with the Mossberg 940 Pro Waterfowl and the Carlsons Bismuth Bone Buster choke tube. This shotgun is on loan to me through Mossberg’s press program.
