(Clear, structured, and protective of ʿaqeedah) In this important lecture, Belal Assaad addresses a modern trend spreading rapidly online — the law of attraction / manifestation — and explains it from an Islamic perspective, because it directly affects ʿaqeedah (belief). The talk begins with a hadith from Riyāḍ al-Ṣāliḥīn, where the Prophet ﷺ advises Ibn ʿAbbās as a young boy: Guard Allah’s commands and Allah will protect you. Ask Allah alone and seek help from Allah alone. Even if all people gather to benefit or harm you, nothing happens except what Allah has already decreed. The pens have been lifted and the ink has dried. This hadith establishes two foundations of Islam: Tawḥīd — Allah alone controls outcomes Qadar — Allah’s decree is already written Belal Assaad explains that Allah is separate from creation, not inside the universe, not bound by time or place, yet fully aware of everything. While humans make choices and use means, results only occur by Allah’s will. The lecture warns that many Muslims are becoming confused by manifestation concepts — especially when they are mixed with Islamic terms like duʿāʾ, dhikr, or intention. When someone believes that thoughts, frequencies, or “the universe” independently control outcomes, this crosses the line from motivation into shirk. Belal Assaad clarifies: Islam does not forbid using normal means — doctors, work, planning, effort. What Islam forbids is relying on creation as if it controls results without Allah. He discusses common “new-age” practices often tied to manifestation — such as energy healing, Reiki, astrology, astral projection, spiritual meditation, yoga as spiritual power — and references the concept of “spiritual atheism”: spirituality without God. The lecture explains the law of attraction as a metaphysical belief claiming: Thoughts send “vibrations” into the universe Matching frequencies cause the universe to respond He points out that this implies the universe has awareness — a belief rooted in pantheism, which directly contradicts Islamic tawḥīd. Belal Assaad also critiques the idea scientifically as presented in the talk: It is treated as pseudoscience, not a real law “Like attracts like” is not how physical forces work The human body is electrically neutral “Energy” is not a substance you send out — it is a capacity to do work He highlights the harmful effects of manifestation culture: Self-blame when things don’t happen Reduced empathy toward others Cutting off family and community as “toxic energy” Avoiding real help, advice, and accountability The lecture concludes by contrasting the Islamic path: Islam teaches: Good intention Optimism Tawakkul (reliance on Allah) Action using lawful means Acceptance of Allah’s decree with good assumptions Manifestation promises control without accountability. Islam promises peace through submission and trust in Allah’s wisdom.
