Ḥā’iyya Ibn Abī Dāwūd – A Foundational Poem in Islamic Creed (‘Aqīda) In this video, we explore one of the earliest and most influential poetic works in Islamic theology: Ḥā’iyya by Abū Bakr Ibn Abī Dāwūd. This concise yet powerful poem is revered for its clarity and depth in outlining the beliefs of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamā‘ah. Composed of 33 verses, Ḥā’iyya addresses key matters of creed – from holding firmly to the Qur’an and Sunnah, to warning against religious innovations (Bid‘ah) and the beliefs of deviated sects. It serves as both a summary of orthodox beliefs and a defence against early heretical movements that strayed from the understanding of the Companions and their successors.
