Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Telesmar began playing the guitar at the age of 6. After discovering his passion for jazz in high school, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in jazz guitar performance at University of Texas at Austin. Soon after, Telesmar moved to Los Angeles where he is currently pursuing an MFA in jazz guitar studies at CalArts under the mentorship of legendary LA jazz guitarist Larry Koonse. During his time in Austin, Telesmar performed and collaborated with many of Austin’s finest jazz musicians including Andre Hayward, Gene Centeno, Matthew Maldonado, James Suter, Ryan Hagler, Daniel Sanchez, and Christian Wiggs. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2022, Telesmar has performed with various heavyweight Los Angeles-based jazz musicians including Barclay Moffitt, Wes Nelson, Sean Lynch, Angelo Velasquez, Simon Hwang, Ethan Furman, and Eilish Wilson. About Monks Jazz: Monks began as a pop-up listening room, and has evolved into a state-of-the-art audio and video recording studio and event space in the heart of East Austin. Our curated concert series features the best improvisational jazz groups and musicians the region has to offer.
