You will test your creative limits in this course and develop a sense of confidence in your ability to produce creative work on a deadline. You will develop the skills needed to complete a project that showcases your ability to produce professional quality work. While you will bring a set of tools you are comfortable with, you will be expected to explore one or two new pieces of software that will expand your capabilities. At the end of the course, you will be able to represent the skills you have developed in the major to potential clients and employers, demonstrating your ability to develop, manage, and complete a professional project. The course will focus on directed readings, case studies from established artists in video demonstrations/interviews, web research, and discussions. By the end of the course, you will be able to: Propose a structured project with challenging but realistic goals Identify your strengths and weaknesses when assuming different roles while working on a production Identify the design elements and particular needs of the project, once it has been defined Define reference models that pertain to your project to use them as a guidance and a road map Create a production template that addresses the needs of your specific project Assemble a production library to organize and store the assets needed for a particular project Determine how to approach different recording scenarios, depending on the project's needs Determine the general sound processing approach, depending on the project's needs Develop a signature sound for the project you are working on Create a project journal that will document the progress of your production Identify the elements you should include in your demo, depending on the nature of your project Apply different recording and sequencing techniques learned throughout the Electronic Music Production and Sound Design major About Michael Bierylo: For Michael Bierylo, teaching Music Synthesis at Berklee is just one component of an eclectic and highly creative career. From his Virtual Planet studio, he's completed film, video, and multimedia scores for clients like Hasbro Interactive, Nintendo, MSNBC, Nickelodeon, VH1, Martha Stewart Living, and Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure. He's also a guitarist, composer, programmer and sound designer for the uncategorizable new music avatars Birdsongs of the Mesozoic. His solo album Life Line earned four and a half stars from the All Music Guide, and he's a voting member of the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences.
