Sky News host Paul Murray says just as the arrest of George Floyd was a “disproportionate use of force, the reaction is also disproportionate” as the US grapples with its fifth night of race riots. Mr Floyd was an unarmed black man who died after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck for more than eight minutes as he told them "I can't breathe". At least two others have now died in the nationwide protests that have sparked looting, building fires and dozens of arrests. Mr Murray said there is of course a “virulent strain of race politics that exists in the US” which is partly due to the “crimes that took place so long ago, and the injustices which have continued for a very long time”. The protests in Minneapolis are understandable as it is where the event took place “but when it breaks out everywhere, it’s about something else,” he said. “This is not a revolution, this is not America falling apart at the seams; this is a very specific problem that takes an awful lot of people to get on top of”.
